The Best Healthy Eats in New York City
When traveling, one presumably wants to try plenty of new food. But the overabundance of food in a lot of cities can be overwhelming. There can sometimes be an internal struggle between experiencing new cuisines and maintaining a health/fitness routine while traveling, which can be difficult to navigate, if not frustrating. So when I face this dilemma, I look for the best of both worlds: local, acclaimed restaurants that offer fresh, healthy, and sustainable options. Here are my favorites in New York City:
Two Hands, Tribeca- airy Australian café with light fare and espresso bar. Try the brassicas bowl.
Forager’s Table, Chelsea- Organic seasonal restaurant with sustainably-sourced ingredients. Try the royal trumpet ceviche.
By Chloe, SoHo- plant-based vegan café, juice bar, and bakery. Try the guac burger.
Bondi, Flatiron- minimalist sushi bar with specialty menu, including vegan options. Try the truffle avocado roll w/ cauliflower rice.
Cafe Clover, West Village- stylish, health-conscious American cooking. Try the quinoa tagliatelle.
Mulberry and Vine, Tribeca- whole-food, clean-eating casual dining. Try the scallion tofu.
The Butcher’s Daughter, Nolita- sunny plant-based restaurant and café. Try the plantain party bowl.
Dimes, Lower East Side- eclectic, Californian health diner. Try the almond crusted salmon.
